In a village in the state of West Bengal, a 13 year old boy was returning from school on a bicycle when a coal-laden truck rammed him. He died on the spot. The truck sped on for a hundred metres before it stalled. The driver, A.K. Singh ( 40) and his help jumped off and ran away as villagers were giving chase. The mob caught the driver, tied him to a tree, thrashed him and hacked him with choppers. Then, the mob drenched him in kerosene and burned him alive.
Singh screamed for mercy but no one came forward to help him. When police arrived an hour later, he was completely burnt and barely breathing. He died some hours later in a Kolkata clinic.
